Good Friday illuminates these moments. From the depths of darkness, the crown of thorns radiates, its "light shining in the darkness" and telling us that we are loved, especially when we are afflicted. For God desires the consolation of the afflicted. God is only love. God is the only tenderness that remains in the heart of darkness.
