FAQ - Answers to your questions!
Who am I?
My name is Fleur Nabert, I'm 43 and the mother of three little girls. I'm a sculptor, and I've been creating large and very large-scale works in bronze and glass since I was...16. With the pandemic, I opened up my creation not just to large places, churches and basilicas, but to individuals. Whether it's a meaningful piece of jewelry or glass icons to light up a prayer corner.
Do I make the jewelry and icons myself?
Yes, absolutely! Since my orders have grown so much, I've surrounded myself with a team of jewelry makers to whom I explain my designs and who ensure their reproduction. There are no machines, no industrial processes, everything is done by hand in my workshop in Neuilly-sur-Seine. As for the icons, I make them all myself in the workshop of my master glassmaker Bruno Loire in Chartres.
Are these creations fragile?
Not at all for the resin jewelry. As a mother of three young children, I wanted jewelry that would stand up to the test of time! They look like glass, but they're not as fragile as glass. In fact, in glass, nothing could be included and everything would burn. Polymer clay requires a little more care, but is still very strong.
What are the care instructions?
These are high-fashion jewels, not solid gold, and the way you live with them will determine how long they last.
- for rings, it's best to remove them before using hydro-alcoholic solution, which is very aggressive, or even washing your hands. Jewelry glue for stones doesn't like water!
- for jewelry and chains, avoid direct contact with perfume , which, depending on the formula, can damage the surface.
- take them off when showering (and of course when swimming and bathing in the sea).
- When you're not wearing them, it's a good idea to leave them in the shade of a box, as I also specify in the care instructions you receive. I use the best resins available, but they can be sensitive to certain skin PH or to prolonged exposure to UV rays, as can any object (think of objects that stay near a window and change color!). The more you take care of your costume jewelry by protecting it from light when you're not wearing it, the prettier it will remain. Over time and depending on how it's used, it can take on a honey-colored patina.
As for the icons, I send them in foam-reinforced boxes, and they should be handled with the normal care required of a glass object, and fingers should not be placed on the gold leaf.
What is gold filled?
It's a brass plating that comes from the USA and is thicker than our European plating. To put it in a nutshell:
Are your creations limited editions?
Yes, by the very fact that they are handmade. You could even say that each creation is unique, because the hand never makes exactly the same gesture twice, nor does nature create two identical flowers.
Are large earrings heavy?
Not at all! I love earrings, but I have vivid memories of glass Venetian earrings that hurt my lobe. Resin has this genius of really weighing the weight of a feather. In the same way, when I fit clip-on earrings, I've found some that can be adjusted with a small screw to the exact size of the lobe, so they won't hammer your ears!
How thick is a resin medal?
A number of models are 5 mm thick, to create depth and movement inside, or colored backgrounds and crystalline surfaces. Others, surrounded by a golden circle, are as thin as a regular medal, i.e. 1.5 mm.
How long does it take to receive my order?
When I order something, I like to receive it quickly. So I try to do the same! For jewelry, I process your orders between 24 and 48 hours. Then the post office takes between 1 and 3 days by recorded delivery. DHL delivers the day after shipment, depending on the delivery method you choose. For icons, I start gilding the day I receive the order and send it about 5 days after it has dried. In all cases, you'll be notified by e-mail when your order leaves my workshop, and a tracking number will enable you to trace it.
Can I buy a creation and have it sent to someone as a gift?
Yes, absolutely. You can buy a creation and specify a delivery address different from the billing address. However, if you need to send two pieces of jewelry or two icons to two different people, you'll need to place two separate orders. Because the site can only handle one delivery address at a time.
Can I have a gift wrapped?
I try to take real care with every shipment I make. The jewels leave in an organza bag with a plant element, and the icons are carefully packed in a reinforced box. On the "Écrins et chaînes" collection page, you can choose different options: the possibility of adding a natural or white leather case, a chain if the person doesn't have one, or even a small bag if it's for an outdoor present and needs to be taken somewhere. As for icons, as I've seen you offer them as gifts to brides and grooms, or for a baptism or communion, there's also the possibility of using a bag to take the icon, its base and its certificate to the place of celebration.
I have a discount code, where do I enter it?
When you check out, there's a little box where you can enter a code. On the next page, the discount will appear at the top of the page (on cell phones) in the "Order summary" section, and the code will change the amount of the basket.
Does the jewelry come with an explanation?
Yes, always. Each piece is accompanied by a label explaining the meaning of the jewel.
Is jewelry available in boutiques?
Yes, and more and more! The list can be found here.
Is it possible to visit the Neuilly workshop and see the creations?
The workshop is not a boutique, but it can be visited by appointment by sending me an e-mail or a message via the contact form.
If there's a question missing from this list, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll add it!
