Lourdes. I can't think of a more touching place. One would like to be insensitive. To resist the kitschiness of the sanctuary. To theses kyrielles of plastic virgins. And yet... The grotto brings everyone, big or small, weak or powerful, to their knees in heartfelt simplicity and surrender. When Bernadette found the spring, it was all bogged down and clogged with stones, as our hearts often are. A lot of work was done to make it pure and crystalline. It's a job that goes on every day. It's about clarity and TRUST!
I wanted to dedicate my second artist's rosary to Lourdes. It's made of white mother-of-pearl and blue angelite stone, the colors of the Virgin's dress. In the heart of the rosary is a Marian medal and two small yellow flowers, like those that were at the feet of the Virgin Mary during the apparitions. Finally, the cross is made of silver leaf, as luminous as the water from the miraculous spring, with a blue forget-me-not flower at its center, a symbol of eternal love in the language of flowers.
I also include a bottle of Lourdes water that we took from the grotto and handfilled for you. This water is a grace and cannot be sold, it was offered and I want to perpetuate this gesture. There once was one in every house. One of my grandmothers miraculously regained her sight thanks to it. You may not be able to go to Lourdes, but Lourdes will come to you and you can bless your rosary and your house with it.
