A few years ago, I created a large bronze sculpture in the church of Yvetot, called the "Empty Tomb". Peter and John rush to the tomb. Saint John's hand touches the gap left by the stone that has been rolled away. In my sculpture, this gap is light. He touches absence and infinity at the same time. He sees. And believes. A dazzling revelation.
It's the same idea in this jewel, a cross surrounded by shimmering gold and copper, and in the center, an empty silver cross. Empty? No. Infinitely full of the Hope that the Resurrection gives to the world. Infinitely full of a love that will never cease. It's the whole mystery of God summed up: invisible and absolutely present.
