I am fortunate to have extraordinary men in my life: my late father, my husband, my longtime friends. I have great and respect for these male figures whose gifts—through fatherhood, love, or friendship— complement feminine gifts. I see men as builders and, like Saint Joseph, as carpenters. They build the framework of our families. Just as the framework of Notre-Dame de Paris remained standing in the furnace, they remain courageous, valiant, and protective. So, this Roman cross plan, one of the oldest cathedral designs, naturally made me think of them.
